Argus LPG St. Petersburg 2016
The conference Argus LPG St. Petersburg 2016 has become the key event for the LPG market players.
Over 200 delegates representing more than 120 companies from 31 countries took part in the international conference Argus LPG St. Petersburg 2016, which was held on April 14-15 in the northern capital of Russia.
For the 11th time this conference gathered top producers, exporters and importers of liquefied petroleum gas, as well as traders and representatives of transport companies. Participants of the conference discussed the latest trends in the global LPG market, topical issues of LPG export and transit, the prospects for the development of regional markets, infrastructure projects, as well as the particularities of pricing and trading.
The general partner of the conference was SIBUR, the largest LPG producer and exporter in Russia. The event was also supported by Impeksneftehim, BMF Port Burgas, Turkmen Petroleum and the Russian company Komus.
Speakers included representatives of SIBUR, Impeksneftehim, Turkmen Petroleum, Primagaz Central Europe, V-GAS Bulgaria, Polski Gaz, SG Trading, Avestra (Beijing), Belorusneft, Petek Industry Malzemeler.
During the first conference day delegates reviewed the world LPG market trends as well as outlooks for CIS and European LPG market developments, including LPG export from Belarus, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. Speakers noted that LPG market supply still overtops demand.
Robert Stepien, Director of LPG supply in Primagaz Central Europe, stressed that the prospects for the development of European autogas market depend among other things on taxation and the technological improvement of autogas engines. Moreover, in his opinion, LPG is the optimal choice for non-electrified areas compared to fuel oil.
The first day of the conference ended with the evening cocktail party at Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg.
During the second day, delegates discussed peculiarities of the LPG transportation on the international market, the current situation, trends and prospects of the LPG markets in Russia, China and Iran.
Jianhong Qi, CEO of Avestra (Beijing), presented an analysis of the Chinese LPG market. He also shared information about the construction of a LPG transshipment station in Manchuria with the participants of the conference, and said that the terminal Far East Gases will be launched this summer.
Special attention during the second day of the conference was given to the issues related to the sanctions lifting against Iran. In particular, speakers noted that the sanctions lifting should lead to the traffic flows changes.
The conference once again confirmed its status as the largest industry event in the LPG markets in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.
The next Argus conference on the LPG market will be held in April 2017.
